This is a trade qualification for plumbers in residential, industrial and commercial workplaces who are responsible for assembling, installing and maintaining water services, sanitary plumbing and sanitary drainage, gas, roofing and mechanical services in both existing and new constructions. This qualification has been specifically developed to meet the needs of the plumbing industry.
The plumbing industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.
While undertaking this qualification, apprentices gain the skills and knowledge to:
- Lay out, test and maintain pipes, fixtures, metal roofing, fittings, gas meters, regulators, units and appliances.
- Install equipment such as boilers, pumps, heating and cooling systems, natural gas appliances, water tanks, water heaters and solar water heating systems.
- Install, maintain and repair pipes in stormwater or sewerage systems and drains, septic tanks, holding wells, sullage pits and absorption tracks.
Successful completion of the course will result in the issuance of a Certificate of Qualification and a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for CPC32413 - Certificate III in Plumbing.
Upon completion, participants are eligible to apply for a provisional licence.
This is a licenced occupation. State and territory jurisdictions may have different licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.
Completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.
Participants must be employed and registered under a training contract as an apprentice.
Tec-NQ conducts a Learning, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment as part of its enrolment process.
Eligible apprentices who meet the Queensland state funding requirements will be charged a set fee of $1.60*/nominal hour. Certified training is GST free.
Nominal hours for each unit of competency are provided in the training plan.
Tec-NQ charges all students a utility levy of $35.00 per year.
Fees are set by the Queensland Government department that is responsible for training. Fees are subject to change over the course of an apprenticeship.
Some students may be eligible for concessions. Please check with your enrolments officer when registering for the course.
