Low Voltage Rescue and CPR

Successful completion of this course enables participants working within the electrical industry to act as a safety observer. It provides participants with the skills to manage an electrical accident and perform low voltage panel rescue.

Course information

This course provides learners with the skills and knowledge required to safely identify electrical hazards, assess the area for danger, safely remove a person connected to low voltage electrical supply and carry out first aid measures including CPR if required. It also addresses identification of additional hazards and risks, and incident reporting.

While undertaking this qualification, participants gain skills and knowledge in:

  • DRSABCD Action Plan
  • Managing the unconscious, breathing casualty
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Choking
  • Legal requirements and obligations
  • Infection control
  • Defibrillation awareness
  • Introduction to low voltage principles
  • Rescue from low voltage apparatus
  • Hazards and risk management

UETDRMP007 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive a Statement of Attainment in UETDRMP007 - Perform rescue from a live LV panel and HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Revalidation of UETDRMP007 and HLTAID009 is required every 12 months for persons working in the electrical industry as per the Electrical Safety Regulations 2013.

Those holding an existing ESI or Electrotechnology qualification or equivalent meet the prerequisite unit requirements.

The application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence/registration to practice in the workplace.

 

Other conditions may also apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing this unit.

There are no entry requirements for this course.

Training is delivered face-to-face, for a duration of 3 hours in a single session.
