This course provides training and assessment in the following unit of competency:
CPCPWT4022 Commission and maintain backflow prevention devices. This course provides learners with the skills and knowledge required to test, commission and maintain backflow prevention devices in water services. It covers the identification of requirements, preparation of work, commissioning and maintenance activities and finalisation of work including documentation.
While undertaking this qualification, plumbers gain skills and knowledge in:
- Preparation of work
- The identification of testing and commissioning requirements.
- The physical testing and commissioning of devices.
- Maintenance of devices and the completion of work finalisation processes

Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive a statement of attainment in CPCPWT4022 - Commission and maintain backflow prevention devices.
This competency forms part of CPC40920 Certificate IV in Plumbing and Service.
This is a licenced occupation. State and territory jurisdictions may have different licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.
No prerequisites.
Applicants must hold a current Queensland plumbing licence from the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC), with a backflow endorsement that is due to expire in three to six months.
Training is delivered face-to-face, for a duration of 3 days for Backflow Prevention and 1 day for Backflow Prevention Revalidation.
This is a fee for service course with an upfront cost due on enrolment.
